A KERB crawler has been banned from entering Bristol's "red light" areas for two years after being caught picking up a street prostitute in Eastville.
Mark Mallinson, 43, of Duncombe Lane, Speedwell, has been made subject to an anti-social behaviour order by Bristol magistrates which stops him from going to streets in Eastville and St Paul's affected by street prostitution. He was also ordered to pay £210 in fines and costs.
Mallinson had been arrested in April 2010, when he picked up a sex worker from East Park, off Fishponds Road in Eastville.
He was given a caution on condition he attended a re-education course to stop his offending.
But on July 7 he was arrested again at nearby Freeland Buildings.
The order states Mallinson "must not enter any of the red light areas of Bristol in a vehicle or on foot".
Police vice liaison officer PC Vicky Lewis said: "We're delighted to have yet another Asbo granted against a kerb crawler.
"Anyone who is considering trying to buy sex from prostitutes in Bristol should beware. We are determined to improve the quality of life for affected communities and we will be arresting and prosecuting anyone we catch kerb-crawling in the city."
A second man, 24-year-old David Singh, of Downend Road, Downend, had his driving licence revoked for eight weeks and was ordered to pay a £135 fine after being caught kerb-crawling in St Paul's.
Police said that Singh was initially given the chance to attend the same rehabilitation scheme, known as Change Course. But an Avon and Somerset force spokeswoman said his bad behaviour on the day of the course meant he was asked to leave and made to appear before the court.
Vice liaison officer PC Tina Newman said: "We are really pleased to have two such positive results at court and hope this demonstrates to the local community how dedicated we are to working together with the courts to bring kerb-crawlers to justice."
