Bristol City fans' view with Matthew Withers

I REALLY just don't know where to start! I can't believe that we can go 2-0 up away at Bolton after 21 minutes, only to again display our soft side and concede three goals and lose the game.

At this level you have to be professional, work for each other and see the result through.

Stephen McManus came straight into the side and improved the centre of defence, but couldn't stop the alarming rate that we are conceding goals. I don't think it's any coincidence that since Greg Cunningham was injured we have struggled defensively and Derek McInnes must be pulling his hair out.

To be fair, the first goal for Bolton was from a well-struck free-kick, although with a ball along the ground like that you have to question the wall set up. Chris Eagles more often than not goes for power and yet the wall decided to jump and the ball went under them and into the corner of the net.

The second and third goals were shockers defensively and almost carbon copies of each other. The midfield allowed Bolton time on the ball to pick a pass, failed to pick up the runner and the defence was caught flat-footed allowing, first Spearing, and then Petrov to beat Heaton.

Knowing the sort of player that the manager was in his West Brom days, I am surprised that McInnes does not have a leader in the side within the middle of the park.

Our midfield lacks any real bite and penetration and we all know about the lack of creativity in the centre of the pitch. City need to display a nastier side and show the determination and desire to win a Championship game.

It's now been a year since McInnes took charge, and while I think that the quality of the team has improved, we still find ourselves struggling at the wrong end of the table. We have to turn this poor run of form around and quickly. Where has the Martyn Woolford from the first few games of the season gone? Woolford showed constant movement and was a real attacking threat but over the last few weeks has reverted back to the form of last season.

Cole Skuse has to get stronger and impose himself on games and the same can be said for Stephen Pearson. We can't expect the chairman and board to keep throwing money at the problem and so again I would question why any of the under 21 squad are not being given a chance.

We have two home games coming up this week against Burnley and Huddersfield and we have to look to take all six points and get back to the free flowing football we were playing at the start of the season. The whole team has to up its work rate but especially in the midfield. I would rest Liam Fontaine and start with Joe Bryan at left back.
